Papaver somniferum

In my library I have a dozen books with pictures of paintings by Dutch and Flemish 17th Century flower still-live paintings. One of the painters I adore is Willem van Aelst (1627-1683). I love the big leaves he used in his compositions. Like many of his colleagues at the time, he painted a lot of Papaver Somniferum (the big beige orange flower).
